My AdSense or YouTube payment is on hold

A payment hold means Google needs something from you before it pays. Your Payments page shows the reason; most holds clear once you complete that step.

Updated October 14, 2026

Common reasons for a hold

Google lists missing tax information as a reason for a payment hold. [1]

Google does not send any payment until you verify your payments address with the PIN it mails to you. [2]

Google also asks you to verify your identity, and gives you 45 days from its first request. [3]

What to do

Sign in to your AdSense account and open the Payments page: it shows each hold and the step that removes it. Complete the steps yourself, in your own account.

Fix the hold early in the month: changes made after the 20th only take effect in the following month’s payment cycle. [4]

What we can and cannot do

We cannot remove a hold, unlock an account or speed up a payment, and we have no access to any provider’s systems. We will never ask for your password, a verification code or your card number.

Paragraphs without a source number are our own explanation or advice, not a statement by the provider.

This is general information, not financial, legal or tax advice. Providers change their terms; check the linked official page before you act.
