My wire transfer arrived with less money than expected

When an international wire arrives short, the difference is usually taken by the banks that pass the payment along, not by the sender.

Who takes the difference

Google says it does not charge a fee to receive your funds and does not take a commission from your finalised earnings; your bank may charge fees. [1] [2]

Banks that pass an international (Swift) payment along can deduct their own fees from the amount sent, before it reaches your account. [3]

Intermediary bank details

Incorrect intermediary bank details can delay a wire by as long as three months. [4]

Ask your bank for its exact details for incoming wires in the currency you are paid in, and its fee for receiving them. Compare that fee with other ways to be paid in our country guides.
